Nico WashingtonVice President for Finance & Administration, Haverford College Ms. Nico Washington is currently serving as the vice president for finance and administration at Haverford College. She is responsible for directing the College's financial affairs and overseeing the administrative policies of the college. The vice president for finance and administration's portfolio includes overseeing campus operations that includes administrative auxiliary services, budgeting and planning, controller’s office, human resources, facilities management, dining services and campus safety. Prior to joining the Haverford community, Ms. Washington has held several senior administrative and financial positions and has over 35 years of experience in executive support for finance, administration, accounting, budget planning, strategic planning, and project management. Ms. Washington began her professional career in federal government at the National Security Agency (NSA) and transitioned into higher education nearly 30 years ago. Ms. Washington's work in higher education began at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), where she administered programming at the Carey School of Business before spending two decades in the University System of Maryland (USM). This service included being associate provost for financial affairs and chief of staff at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) were she was responsible for directing all academic budgetary and financial planning in the Provost Office, as well as providing oversight, administrative, and financial leadership for the Division of Academic Affairs and culminating as chief operating and financial officer at the University of Maryland, Universities at Shady Grove (USG) were she had oversight of auxiliary services, the finance and budget office, human resources, facilities and campus master planning, and public safety and transportation while partnering with nine Maryland public universities to create an innovative and pioneering partnership supporting educational and economic opportunities in Maryland. Ms. Washington’s interest in administration and finance led her to the Agnes Irwin School Bryn Mawr, PA, where, as the chief financial officer, she oversaw all aspects of the school’s fiscal management, operations, and budget as well as managing campus facilities, campus safety and security, auxiliary programs, the business office, and human resources. Ms. Washington serves as a member of the Healthcare Access Maryland (HCAM) Board of Directors. She is also a prior member of the EACUBO Program and Services Committee, EACUBO Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, EACUBO Board of Directors and PAISBOA Health Benefits Trust Board of Trustees. Ms. Washington holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Maryland. |
