Area Programming Fall Plans
 

The following areas have plans for fall programs:

The Syracuse Region has its fall workshop planned for at the Syracuse/Liverpool Holiday Inn. The program will include Alternative Investments 101: Carolee White, Asst. Treasurer and Director of Investments for Colgate University, and Beth Johnson, senior consultant with Hammond Associates, will discuss alternative investments and why many colleges and universities have increased their allocation to this asset class.

Evolving Standards for Stewardship of Alternative Investment Managers/Funds: Representatives from a major audit firm will discuss their concerns with the alternative investment asset class and new audit requirements regarding these investments. Carolee White and Beth Johnson will also be on hand to share their perspectives on best practices in endowment stewardship.

Utilities Costs, Co-Generation or Futures Contracts: Tim Sweet, Director of Energy Management & Computing Services for Syracuse University, and Tom Coakley, VP of Administrative Operations for St. Lawrence University, will present efforts large and small schools are making to control energy costs.

Compliance Management: Frank Kurre, Director of Higher Education and NFP Practice for Grant Thornton, will present on reputational risk for colleges and universities and discuss the relationship between external auditors and audit committees

The New York Metro Committee is planning its fall program on 11/13 at the New School (55 West 13th Street). Topics will include:
• Strategic/business planning
• Enrollment management from the finance perspective,
• Valuation of alternative investments,
• Tax update
• Sarbanes Oxley - who is doing what.

Rochester/Buffalo Area EACUBO Fall 2006 Workshop will be held October 19, 2006 at the Batavia Holiday Inn. The progrm is planned as follows:
