From The President
Dear colleagues,
It has been my pleasure and privilege to serve
as the president of EACUBO this past year.
In my last letter as president, I want to thank
the
many people that contributed to a successful
year and give you a brief update of EACUBO initiatives
since my last letter.
Many people were responsible for the various
accomplishments during the past year. I want
to extend my sincere gratitude to the many volunteers
with whom I have had the privilege to work.
As an
all volunteer organization EACUBO is indebted
to the Executive Committee members, Board members,
Committee members, and other volunteers that
put
in countless hours in service to EACUBO and
our membership. I also want to thank our sponsors
and
vendors for their financial support and our
business partners for their efforts on EACUBO’s behalf.
A full annual report of all our association’s
accomplishments during the past year will be posted
on the web by the time of the Annual Meeting. I
will highlight a few of the many achievements in
the remainder of this letter.
Our professional development opportunities included
very successful offerings at the Annual Workshop
in Providence, RI; Senior Business Officer
Roundtable, in Philadelphia; Administrative Management
Institute,
in Ithaca, NY; and numerous programs coordinated
by our Area Program Committees. Working in
partnership with the other regional associations
and NACUBO
the recently completed ACUBO competency survey,
that identified key competencies and professional
development needs of finance and business professionals
will serve to strengthen our future professional
development offerings.
I reported in my last letter that we devoted
our two Board retreats to developing an updated
strategic plan. The process validated our organization’s
mission, vision and values, and established key
goals in the areas of professional development;
membership; partnerships; and association infrastructure.
After some final editing and review, we are looking
forward to sharing the updated strategic plan at
our Annual Meeting in Boca Raton.
A task force led by John Palmucci led an effort
to issue an RFP and evaluate responses to partner
with a firm to handle many of the logistical
and administrative tasks that can be outsourced
by our
association. The goal is to optimize the time
of our volunteers. We want to protect our volunteers’ time
from tasks that can be outsourced, and instead try
to derive the greatest benefit from our volunteer
resources by focusing their attention on programmatic
content in their fields of expertise. The Board
accepted a recommendation from the task force to
partner with Association Resources out of Hartford
Connecticut. We look forward to our future business
partnership with Association Resources.
Again I want to repeat my thanks to many people
for the accomplishments of the last year. I
also owe a huge debt to the EACUBO executive committee
for their great support in what has been a
difficult
and trying year for me personally and professionally.
It has been my honor and pleasure to serve
as your president this year. I look forward to seeing
many
of you at our Annual Meeting in Boca Raton.
