Jon Barnhart

Director, Research Advisory Services, EAB

Jon helps partners unpack their institutions’ challenges in a global higher education context, drawing on his 12 plus years of conducting research and advising universities. He connects the dots for university leaders on how pressures from every direction—geopolitical, economical, financial, social—impact an institution’s ability to deliver on their strategic goals. Jon then drives partners towards informed, sustainable strategies for addressing these challenges, relaying EAB’s best practice research and combining it with his experiences in supporting universities across the world.

Jon Barnhart joined EAB in 2012 as a Research Associate, where he worked across the higher education membership forums conducting short-term research projects. Jon helped to launch the University Research Forum in the summer of 2015, and has led research projects for the forum on partnerships, international engagements, foreign interference, administrative efficiency, communications, and research growth strategy.

Prior to joining EAB, Jon worked for several political consulting and fundraising groups around Washington DC, where he helped non-profits hone messaging, construct policy proposals, and navigate DC’s complex political ecosystem.

Jon earned his bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and International Relations from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
