R. Lorraine (Laurie) Bernotsky
President, West Chester University
R. Lorraine (Laurie) Bernotsky became president of West Chester University, part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), in July 2024. Prior to being named president, Dr. Bernotsky held the position of interim president of Pennsylvania Western University (PennWest). A collaborative and inclusive leader who is centered on student success, Dr. Bernotsky holds nearly three decades of progressive experience in higher education. She has served as a faculty member, Associate Provost and Graduate Dean, as well as Provost and Executive Vice President, a role which included the university’s budget and labor relations functions. Dr. Bernotsky holds a master’s and doctorate in politics from the University of Oxford, and a master’s in sociology from Temple University.
