Mark Gavin

Associate Provost for Academic Budget, Facilities and Strategic Initiatives, West Virginia University

Mark Gavin (Ph.D., Purdue University) is currently the Associate Provost for Academic Budget, Facilities and Strategic Initiatives at West Virginia University. In this role, he manages a diverse portfolio both within the academic function and spanning across the broader university. He is the strategic partner to the Vice President of Finance/Chief Finance Officer in overseeing the university’s finances/budget and in leading the development, roll out and management of a new budget model. He also serves on the University’s senior leadership team. Over the last two years, he led the Academic Transformation project, which included a full review of its academic program portfolio. Prior to joining the Provost’s Office, he served as the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, Research and Executive Education in the College of Business and Economics. He is also a tenured Professor of Management, having served on the faculty both at West Virginia University and Oklahoma State University.
