Matthew Frist

Senior Vice President for Finance & Business, Duquesne University

Matt Frist is a collaborative, results-oriented leader with more than 27 years of financial and management experience within higher education. He has been serving as senior vice president for finance and business at Duquesne University since 2016, and leads and provides strategic management to the division of finance and business, a division comprised of departments integral to University operations, including auxiliary services, computing and technology services, dining, design and construction, facilities management, finance, institutional research, internal audit, investment management, planning and budget, and treasury services among others. With Frist's guidance, the University has grown total assets of the institution by $575 million to $1.3 billion as of March 31, 2025. In addition, he has played an instrumental role in more than doubling the University's $740 million endowment and long-term investments. Frist structured and negotiated four Public Private Partnerships valued at $365 million by monetizing the University's energy infrastructure, privatizing two on-campus student housing facilities and constructing a third. He also led efforts to acquire strategic property adjacent to campus, which is the site of Duquesne’s newly constructed College of Medicine. Frist is a financial peer reviewer for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and has held leadership posts with the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers.
